Classic Tokyo Shock flick.

Rather than looking at the title of this flick and thinking "oh, another stupid American style zombie flick", you should definitely be considering this as a Japanese action/gore/over the top madness flick. If you've seen this director's other films (Machine Girl, Tokyo Gore Police), then you know exactly what you're getting into. Blood, gore, fecal matter, tapeworm zombies, farting, more fecal matter, spinning tapeworm heads, kung fu fighting.... etc. You get it.

Personally, I love these Tokyo Shock flicks for all they're worth. Some folks will certainly hate this stuff, cuz frankly, most Tokyo Shock is absolutely bizarre and weirdly fetishistic. But hey, if you can't laugh at some tentacle rape and ridiculous farting tapeworm zombies, why are you even here? Lighten up, have some fun and pop in a good ol' fashioned Japanese Shock Action flick like this and laugh a bit.

Poor man's Prometheus

With such a title, no one expects great cinematic achievement, yet with similar story lines and themes as Prometheus with a trillionth of this budget, this parody will make you laugh much harder. The CGI is not as good, mostly, tongue-in-cheek, but just when you think things could not get more outrageous, the movie manages to top itself. Obviously, frequent use of asses sets it apart, but gross outs, goo, zombies, aliens, orifice penetration, the origin of man, creation, the meaning of life, betrayal, nerdy biologists, bizarre surgical procedures, self sacrifice, ass kicking, and survival feature prominently just as in the big budget film. Put yourself in the proper mood, and this movie will deliver.

Silly, Crazy, Gross

If you have watched Tokyo Gore Police and Machine Girl this is similar in its extreme. There's blood like those other two films, but this one is far more gross. As the title suggests, there are special effects that are pretty graphic. I don't recommend you eat before this film if you have a weak stomach. There are a few good fight scenes but they do not redeem the film enough. Of course, its not supposed to be real, but it borders on being disgusting. I give credit to the Japanese for being inventive enough to go to these kind of extremes, but this film is a bit too much to handle. I think teens, early 20's people who like zombie films that are out there may find this worth watching but it is not for mass appeal.

Mindless fun

Quite a fun little comedy/horror, which is not really one of my favourite genres. There are so many hilarious one-liners in this one that it's hard to keep track of them all. The CGI isn't the greatest but I thought the practical effects were really well done.

Tons of gore are present and there is a scene which seems to pay homage to Evil Dead 2, as well as one that might be the best shishkebab scene since Happy Birthday To Me.

All in all it's quite a fun ride, and if you're not already a fan of parasitic zombie ass horror, this might be the movie that changes your mind. Oh, and there's also the Japanese schoolgirl nudity as well. 8/10

Did you bring enough toilet paper...?

Right, you have to be a fan of the extreme Japanese gore movies to enjoy a movie such as "Zombie Ass: Toilet of the Dead". Just look at the title of the movie, and you know immediately what kind of movie you are in for here.

So is it worth it? Yes it is. This movie is hilarious and just sickly over the top enough to be enjoyable. There are a lot of funny scenes that had me either laughing or just shaking my head in disbelief. And only from Japan would something be spawned. But of course, from the director of "The Machine Girl" and "Robo Geisha", a movie like this would have to see the light of day eventually. And personally, then I am glad that I bought this movie for my collection.

"Zombie Ass: Toilet of the Dead" is a great addition to any zombie aficionado's collection. But as I said above, preferably only if you enjoy this bizarre sub-genre of splatter and gore movies from Japan.

The story in the movie, well it is fairly straight forward, bizarre and twisted, but funny and enjoyable. A group of young people go out to the woods where they encounter a zombie, and they end up taking shelter in a small house; a house that is used by a doctor to keep his daughter alive through some very unorthodox methods.

The zombies in this movie are indeed something not seen before, so thumbs up for the innovative thinking here, despite it being so extremely weird. But you just got to love the way that they end up moving about as the parasites start to burst out from their orifices.

I will say that people in the movie were doing good jobs with their given roles, which really helped the movie quite well along a great way.

Effects-wise, then "Zombie Ass: Toilet of the Dead" is not a spectacle of awesome effects and amazing CGI. It makes uses of some fairly simple effects, but they work out well enough, and just adds to the overall bizarre mood of the entire movie.

As a zombie aficionado I enjoy the occasional zombie spoof every now and then, and "Zombie Ass: Toilet of the Dead" is a great Japanese zombie spoof that mixed enough ingredients of various genres into a strange, bizarre stew that simmers just right and becomes enjoyable in a sickening and oh-so-wrong way. As noted on the DVD cover "...What the f*** did I just watch?" - Hubert Vigilla, JAPAN CUTS - that pretty much sums up the spirit of the movie in the best possible way.

Toilet humor

You should expect it, right? A movie with a title like that (internationally: Zombie *ss) should be below the belt ... backside-wise. But shouldn't it still be sort of funny? Of course if you set your bar low, you might be able to laugh at quite a few of the jokes I reckon, but judging from the overall rating, I guess not many could oversee the flaws this had/has.

It's a shame, because movies with a punch line can be a lot of fun. Snakes on a plane, Alien vs. Ninjas and other movies have proved that to a better effect. Talking about effects, the ones shown here are decent enough for the small budget this movie has. Performances (if you can call them that) are borderline silly and closer to annoying, but might feel entertaining for some.

Messed up and grotesque but boring

There are weird Japanese movies...Than there is Noboru Iguchi movies. His movies seems to get more messed up with each installments. Movies like this show that just because a movie is weird and grotesque doesn't equal a cool or entertaining flick. Iguchi was a porn director before making these exploitation flicks and it really shows in this one. With constant fetishes from farting, pooping, things coming in and out of the anus, mouth and eye balls. Oh and tentacle rape. And also has crap covered zombies, high school girls that know karate, sexual harassment dudes, skanky girls, parasites, crazy scientist, and some psycho school girl. So yeah it combines messed up exploitation stuff in one movie. Yeah, it's messed up and gross but I didn't feel like I was amused or entertained or found anything that happen in this flick to be cool. Some audiences that are into these fetishes might like it though.

A Japanese schoolgirl learns to be brave and fart in public

Warning: Spoilers

I think this movie just knocked PINK FLAMINGOS out of first place for the BEST MOVIE I'VE EVER SEEN.

The plot is wild enough... a highschool girl's older sister kills herself because she (the older sister) farts on cue to protect her (the younger sister). But the rest of the movie... you've got toilet vampires, a tapeworm that enters and exits anally, a mad scientist, a girl who learns kung fu because she's bored and watches Chinese movies, a cocaine car driver.

The ending is positively feminist! The heroine learns to "let it out," and not be inhibited in the typical, embarrassed, girly way. In letting it out, she becomes a fart-superhero, a future savior of humankind.

With special effects up the wazoo (literally), this is the movie you'll sit through again and again... bringing your friends who'll be amazed and converted.

Yet another (quite gross) explanation of zombie origins.

Warning: Spoilers

Five Japanese teens go on a day trip in the woods in the mountains. Maki wants to find a tapeworm so she can stay thin for modeling purposes. The others catch a trout which contains a tapeworm. Maki grosses everyone out by eating the tapeworm. They encounter a zombie, who bites off a finger of Tak's hand. They lose their van to a thief soon after.

They happen upon some old buildings, and Maki decides to use the outhouse. While about her business, she is attacked from below by zombies. Maki gets lost in the crowd. Megumi leads the others to relative safety. They fight the zombies, and ultimately get help from Dr Tanaka with a sick daughter Sachi. He explains the transmission method, fish to animal to humans. Tak is infected more directly by the zombie who bit his finger off. The hatching eggs plus Tak's drug use cause the parasite to be quite upset; in this case, Tak's head explodes.

Later, Megumi witnesses Tanaka beating a zombie to get him to throw up a parasite so that Sachi can take it down her throat. Then the previous parasite exits. Megumi lets out a startled sound in the middle of this. Megumi and Tanaka have a talk; Megumi's friends walk in during this. Tanaka explains that Sachi has leukemia, and that the parasites keep the disease in check. In return, Tanaka supplies the parasites with hosts. To further that end, he laced the spaghetti he fed them earlier with parasite eggs.

Will any of our heroes emerge alive from this nest of horrors? Will Naoi (the nerdy boy of the group) ever get his courage?

------Scores------

Cinematography: 6/10 Too bright and washed out; sometimes soft focus and low contrast.

Sound/subtitles: 4/10 There are several sections where there are no subtitles. This does not aid the understanding of the action of the film.

Acting: 2/10 Not much was required, and less was delivered.

Screenplay: 2/10 Floor sweepings.

Grossness: 10/10 This is from Tokyo Shock, after all. Flatulence, tentacle penetration, excrement, vomiting, zombies, exchange of bodily fluids with zombies, ingestion of parasites. Did I mention zombies? Consumption of human flesh, dismemberment, gore, blood fountains; ugly, rotting, dead zombies; flies on zombies. Alien parasites entering the beginning of the alimentary tract, and exiting the lower end. Exploding heads, and flying via flatulence.

This Movie Rocks!

Wracked with guilt over the suicide of her bullied sister, young karate student Megumi accompanies four older friends on a trip into the woods: smart girl Aya, her druggie boyfriend, model Maki, and nerdy Naoi. Things start to go badly when Maki finds a parasitical worm inside a fish -- and wolfs it down, in the hope that it will keep her skinny.

If you liked the outhouse scenes in "Dead Snow", you will love "Zombie Ass" -- because there is fecal matter everywhere, flatulence used as jet propulsion, gratuitous butt crack... this is the sort of silly awesomeness that only Japan can bring.

We get this gem from director Noboru Iguchi, best known for "The Machine Girl". If you liked "Machine Girl", you will probably like this one, too. I mean, geez, it is zombies and poop... and then it gets weird.

Tedious in tirades of sleaze and slush

Former porn director Noboru Iguchi turns to comedy horror bringing along some questionable fetishes and delivering a piece of cinema aimed at grossing out viewers in a vain hope that gag reflexes will simultaneously tickle the comedy sense. Unfortunately the directors concept of zombified alien parasites causing destruction via the anus fails to hit home on any respectable level.

The story breaks down pretty simple: a group of teenagers hit country-side with one girl intent on finding a tapeworm to ingest in order to utilise it as a self-servicing diet regulator. Unfortunately for her the tapeworm isn't standard riverside issue, but a more dastardly breed, which changes its host into a zombified flesh-muncher. Featuring some sparsely cad girls, fronted by a genre standard kung-fu kicking school girl (in the obligatory skirt and white socks) Iguchi throws poop, vomit and aliens playing peekaboo out of the backside by the tonnes, coupled with some adequately crappy fight scenes and gore (squelching brains feature most prominently). However the lack of restraint proves the directors downfall, although appalling acting by the entire cast does little to help.

In general lacks any of the subtle ludicrousness (or reserve) of "Sliver" or "Brain Dead", while failing to bring about the crazy inventiveness of "Tokyo Gore Police". Lacking ingenuity Iguchi starts throwing in everything but the kitchen sink with a no-holds-barred bottom extravaganza, even obviously borrowing certain extreme scenes from other movies (such as the ultimate fart-flying air fight, reminiscent of the "Tokyo Gore Police" armless flying corpus).

Zombies' crap

Oh… my…God! I don't even know how to start writing about this mess!

It's a movie that clearly tries to be a zombies' parody focusing too much on the scatological jokes but, in my point of view, it's nothing more nothing less than that: a mess! A silly and brainless mess!

I didn't find it funny at all (just one or two jokes made me laugh) and the silliness of the plot and some characters (the long hair guy for instance) are pretty absurd!

I've seen some foolish and ridiculous films in my life but I guess this one is going straight to the top 5 of that list!!

It's 1/10, of course!

No Surprise, It Reeks!

Warning: Spoilers

It should come as no surprise that "Zombie Ass" truly stinks. The film begins with a brief, but bizarre sequence of a zombie being forced to vomit bile that is apparently being salvaged to be fed to / swallowed by a Japanese school girl.

The plot beings in traditional horror roots. A group of young people are off on a camping trip. The characters include three attractive young women, one bad-ass drug-user, and the nerd who overreacts to every situation. The protagonist, Megumi, reveals that she has agreed to go on this camping trip in an attempt to escape the pain of her sister's death from one year earlier.

As it turns out, the bustiest of the three babes has planned this camping trip in order to locate a parasite that will make her thin enough to pursue her dreams of being a model (which seems absurd, as she is already quite attractive). Unfortunately, these parasites do not turn out to be the helpful type that infested Fry's gastrointestinal tract in Futurama, but a devastating monster that takes control of its host while simultaneously causing flatulence and inconceivable stomach pains.

To avoid spoiling the film while still indicating the level of grotesqueness, the busty babe finds herself in dire need of a toilet. The camera does not shy away from her very revealing position as she attempts to relieve herself in a liquidy turd-filled hole in an old wooden outhouse. As she farts and tries to force out whatever is inside, a zombie begins to boil up from the pit of sh*t and proceeds to attack / fondle her, smearing fecal juices all over her in the process.

The film boasts a certain level of absurd humor, but overall lands exactly where the title suggests: in the toilet. Aside from the three fairly attractive gals, the only additional positive note is that I was able to make it through the entire film. If you've had a few drinks and find yourself with nothing better to do late one night, perhaps give Zombie Ass a try. It was far from the worst film I've ever seen, but overall simply another forgettable gross-out flick.

Absolute trash

This is one of the lamest, most terrible pieces of garbage ever placed on celluloid. Now I realize the Japanese are an insular people, who have many taboos, such as not showing pubic hair, but this movie, full of terrible acting, special effects and only a superficial story at best, is simply horrible. I watched it as a curiosity and this is one time I wish I could still my impulses. Just bad, bad, bad all around. I really think it's time for IMDb to update to adding a ZERO rating, as well as allowing a review of only one line, even one word. I'll say avoid this movie unless you like seeing farts (in terrible sfx) and lots of ass grabbing. Just an absolute travesty.

I don't get the low rating

What did anyone expect with this title and director? I get it if you knew what you were getting into and still didn't think it was funny. But some of the reviews saying gross, disgusting, blah blah. Well yeah that is the point.

I was with a bunch of friends scanning Netflix and they quickly passed it by and I yelled STOP! We must watch this just based off the title alone and it didn't disappoint. There was ass, zombies, toilets, dead people. Everything they promised in the title was there in abundance and it was good.

I never laughed so hard at something so ridiculous. It did have some boring spots I give you that, but overall it was hysterical just based on the premise of a girl who couldn't fart because she was ashamed of it. Shakespeare couldn't have come up with a better plot.

If you are with a bunch of friends looking for something crazy, stupid and funny and have had a few beers, definitely watch this.

Apoopcalypse

Warning: Spoilers

When you have a movie called Zombie Ass: Toilet of the Dead, you're not expecting subtlety. Well, you're not getting any with this one, a movie that proved to me that I can still be grossed out and upset me a movie, which I guess makes me happy.

After her sister gets bullied to the point that she commits suicide, Megumi and four friends go on a trip in the woods, which gets out of control when Maki eats a parasitic worm that she finds inside a fish in the hopes that she can keep her weight down. Later, when she's trying to take the Browns to the Super Bowl in an outhouse toilet - you know the kind that have like a 15-foot drop off into nothingness that scare you when you're a kid? - and ends up laying eggs and feces all over some bodies that have been hidden in the poop pile.

Director Noboru Iguchi somehow went from adult video to making movies like The Machine Girl and this. That said, his pervy heart is still on display, as this is one of the few movies that I've seen where girls pose provocatively while tentacles emerge from their rectums.

There's also a moment where the girls are in danger because the zombies are attracted to flatulence and fecal matter, so they all have to hold it or die. I would never make it in this zombie apoopcalypse.

Annoyed by reviews; Haven't seen but love Gore; review and rating pending

Are people seriously mad that this movie was about zombies...ass...toilets...the dead...and shrieking schoolgirls? When the title literally has all those words in it? And when the film poster has a scantily clad high school girl on it? Who came watching this film expecting Shakespeare? Honestly? Yes, I nodded in acquiescence at accusations that certain Gore is just blanketed porn and perversion. But almost everything is these days. It's art because it's very expressionistic. You don't have to like or understand or admire anyone's art, OK? Hate it or love it, but there's one thing Japan has that other countries don't have an equivalent to and it's Gore. Tarantino does his best to emulate it, but even he still tiptoes along the lines of caution despite knighting Japan's Battle Royale as one of his favorite films ever.

I first got exposed to Gore, understanding that it was indeed Gore, when I saw Tokyo Gore Police. The worming dildo, the buxom female aliens giving blow jobs, the cheesy CGI, the squirting and bloody amputations, the female sword swinging heroine who gets molested by her frothing, gross, ugly villains, the larva obsession...it was a big slap in the face compared to Japan's Ringu/The Ring for example.

However, I wasn't expecting The Ring when watching this. I was expecting Gore. Who says something called "Gore" is too nasty? *rolls eyes* That's like watching porn and saying the acting and script is horrible. Or like watching children's cartoons and saying the plot wasn't deep enough. Or watching a horror film and saying it was too scary. What the hell, guys? Machine Girl was also a good GORE film. Not saying it was such an amazing film of all the films in the world lol Just a good GORE film. As was Female Scorpion, I believe that qualifies as Gore; Gothic and Lolita Psycho...etc. And I've seen several since.

By the time I had seen Tokyo Gore Police I knew what to expect from these other films: a whole lotta absurd, obscene crap. And I LIKE IT. If you don't like it, you don't get Gore. Not that I'm sure what else you were expecting????

you will never fart in the same way

I have seen a few flicks from director Noburu Iguchi. For example, Machine Girl (2008) or Tokyo Gore Police (2008) among others but this one surely goes a bit further, not on the gore but on the stupidity. This is really bonkers and not many will love this one but still it's worth picking up.

While watching I thought to recognize a common Japanese chick I have met twice in the flesh, Asami. And yes, she's here for only a few seconds in it as a zombie. But back to the flick itself. It do has overacting by the gang of youth going to the woods but that's so typical for Japanese flicks. When one of the girls do feel sick and has to go to the toilet this flick turns into a sickie. Zombies coming from out of the toilet touching the girls naked ass. And this is what this flick is all about, parasites coming out of girls asses. For some it will be disgusting while one is sh*tting a face pops up out of the toilet full of, well, you know what. Towards the end it goes completely over the top in a cheesy way.

It do has a few voyeuristic shots of asses and tits and one girl do show her juggs in this cheap stupid flick. It can only be made by the Japanese and isn't available in most of Europe countries. Worth picking up if you are a lover of those typical Japanese schoolgirls in way too short skirts and showing underwear now and then, you know what I mean.

Disgrace to black comedies, to Asian movies, to Cinema itself!

I love horror-comedies, pretty much all of them manage to bring a huge smile on my face. C'mon lets face it, they can be a tad bit dumb, gorish, logic free, even retarded at times, but I'm telling you folks, this one is off the chart.

It was a sad night, when me and some friends decided to watch it, because what we saw there, stayed with us for a while. It is just depressing to see such movies, that sink so low, they don't even see the light anymore. Words, sadly, can't describe how bad it really is, so people out there, like me, will still be interested in seeing it, cause hey, what's all the fuss about. You need to be warned, others need it too, Zombie ass: Toilet of the dead, is the worst film of its kind I've even seen. And I saw many! I gave it 2, not 1, but 2, because, at the beginning, I actually wanted to see more, for about 20 minutes, after it, we all prayed for it to end. Sadly, we only got to see even more unimaginable things, things that like i said...stay with you and haunt you. Be the better person in this, and let it go, let Zombie ass stay on the shelf, on the torrent, and don't touch it, don't ever touch it. If "The ring" would be true, then that tape would have this movie on it. You see it, then you DIE!

YOU HAVE BEEN SO WARNED!!

What the *** did i just watch ...

I accidentally tripped into this film with some friends because the movie we wanted to watch in the first place was booked out . We were all shocked and somehow fascinated at the same time. This is seriously the grossest and most disgusting movie i have ever seen. It is so disturbing , you don't know whether to cry or to laugh hysterically. This movies lives by yielding an absurdity after an other. If you think , it can't possibly get any worse , it does. This movie ***** your brain and your stomach very well. In my opinion, the creator of this movie must have been smoking some REAL bad stuff writing the story and screenplay. Don't torture yourself by watching this ... just don't. Unless you don't know what to gift your girlfriend for her birthday , present her this movie. She will love you for it.Honestly.Believe Me.

Just What It Says on the Tin

What should you expect when watching Zombie Ass: Toilet of the Dead? Expect tapeworms. Expect flatulence. Expect zombies crawling with their butts in the lead. Expect bad jokes, CGI blood, and a nonsensical script. In short, expect feces, both literal and cinematic.

The film follows a group of teenagers who venture out into the woods to help their friend, a model, find a tapeworm so she can lose weight. They stumble upon a village infested with zombies and learn the true power of power of parasites and rocket powered flatulence.

Zombie Ass's main flaw is that it is nowhere near as funny as it thinks it is. It's material never gets beyond fart jokes, which grow old after ten minutes or so. Adding a CGI cloud does not make a character farting any funnier. The film also suffers from bad special effects, in particular weak CGI. The only thing it really has going for it is that it literally has no limits and gets a laugh by virtue of its audacity.

And here we go with another masterpiece by Iguchi Senpai...and I am not surprised one bit

Fun from start to finish, with plenty of cinematic references/nerd quotes to horror and not horror movies, EXTREMELY beautiful women, general crazyness, titilating "Male-Gaze" (AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH) moments and shots...done, incredibly, in a somewhat respectful way. I can't wait to watch the next movies from one of my favourite directors of all times!

Kudos for the incredible OST too, which sounds like a mish-mash of Perturbator and John Carpenter.

From the Culture That Brought You Hello Kitty, Another Excuse for Child Porn

Warning: Spoilers

Parasites have infested the Japanese populace, turning the country into a zombie hell. A band of survivors must battle these tentacled monstrosities as they emerge (I kind you not) from the anuses of young girls.

PROS: I would love to tell you that there was a single one, but the synopsis speaks for itself.

CONS: I watched this (or parts of it, anyway) the same day I saw "Chanbara Beauty," a similarly structured Japanese zombie movie. Why? I had the stupid idea that I was missing the new direction in Japanese cinema. From its title to its fixation with scatological humor to its disturbing obsession with underage school girls in anal peril, there's nothing to recommend this film. It wants to be edgy and clever. It desperately attempts to infuse manga mentality into a story that is little more than an excuse for fart jokes and nude female bottoms. I'm certainly not a prude (I liked "Tokyo Gore Police"), but I found it disturbing that there seems to be such a market for this thinly veiled child porn. It's a really sad statement about a culture's legitimization of the criminal/unspeakable, and just how deeply immersed Japanese "art" has become in promoting it.

I'm still trying to understand what I watched, why it was created, why people even agreed to film this movie. Is it supposed to be a comedy? One thing is for sure, I'm never letting Netflix pick a film for me to watch...

Zombie Ass > Army of the Dead

Being on a Noboru Iguchi kick, it was inevitable that I watch this. Not exactly high praise, I know, and I needed a friend to watch it with me, but I feel strongly that this should be seen by many people. Ideally one would watch this and Army of the Dead together. I'd wager more people would have fun watching Zombie As than anything written by Zack Snyder. Even on its own it is a delightfully awful live-action hentai, and I honestly don't want to know the kinds of people who wouldn't laugh at this.

Everyone involved obviously had fun making this crap, and even though I rate it higher than AotD, Iguchi and Snyder do have something in common: they both make feel like I could be a director.
